The Cowichan Fish and Game Association is a group who are dedicated to the enhancement of fish and wildlife in British Columbia and specifically that of the Cowichan Valley. We are represented at the provincial level by the B.C. Wildlife Federation, and all members of the CF&G Assoc. are automatically members of the BCWF. We are located in Glenora, just south and west of Duncan on Vancouver Island. Our facilities are at the head of the Cowichan River footpath which stretches through to Skutz Falls. The membership of our association has regular work parties doing maintenance on the footpath to ensure it remains a safe and pleasant trail for all to enjoy. The Cowichan Fish and Game Association membership meets at the Range clubhouse the second Thursday of every month excluding July and August.

Range Facilities.

The Cowichan Fish and Game Association Rifle and Handgun ranges are located on the property at 4295 Robertson Rd in Glenora and are open year round. In addition to the large 100 and 200 yard ranges with covered firing areas, we have a 20 yard heated indoor range, and 50 yard range with covered firing area. There are regular scheduled use groups, so please look up the Range schedule on this website. All CF&G members may use the range at no charge; non-members must pay a fee of $10.00 per use. We also have a modern clubhouse with full kitchen facilities at the range site.

We also have qualified instructors for the Hunter Safety C.O.R.E. and Canadian Firearms Courses for non-restricted and restricted weapons. See PAL/CORE Courses page for the next scheduled courses.

The property at the Range has a non-shooting area with a gazebo with barbecue, grill and kitchen facilities. There are 3 horseshoe pitches, a fire pit and heated washroom. There is also plenty of parking for recreational vehicles.

Handgun Chapter

The Handgun Chapter shoots regularly. Shooting includes: NRA short course, 20 yard indoor silhouette, action shooting (IPSC) and 50 to 200 yard outdoor silhouette. Please note: Members in good standing must maintain annual memberships in both the CF & G Association and the Handgun Chapter

Junior Rifle

We offer a Junior Rifle program for persons 12 through 18 who want to learn how to shoot. The club provides .22 caliber rifles and qualified instruction. Crests can be earned for progressive levels of achievement and there are competitions with other clubs. Did you know that there are shooting scholarships available in a number of US Colleges?

Horseshoe Club

The second Sunday of each month is horseshoe day at the range. The league is for mixed teams with various skill levels. A handicap system ensures everyone has a chance to compete equally. Everyone is welcome to join the league. When the weather is too bad for horseshoes some of the crowd can be found playing cards in the gazebo, but beware this hardy bunch has been known to throw horseshoes by flashlight in the dark and in snow storms!

Biathlon Club

In 2010 a new chapter was accepted into our association, the Biathlon Club. The biathlon club trains for both summer and winter biathlon with shooting and running, as well as doing dry land training for skiing that is involved with the winter biathlon. This club gives those that have been involved in biathlon through the cadets a place to go once aged out, and also welcomes anyone else that is interested in pursuing biathlon.
